Official Rules & Points Guide

The NMAA Warrior Challenge 2026 encourages healthy lifestyles, discipline, unity, and fundraising support for Team South Africa's 2027 World Championships journey.

Kick Warrior

  • Goal: 5,000 points
  • Count recognised martial arts kicks, punches, blocks, and strikes. Each approved technique counts as 1 point.
  • Examples include front kicks, roundhouse kicks, side kicks, punches, palm strikes, knife-hand strikes, rising blocks, inward blocks, outward blocks, and low blocks.
  • Technique and consistency are more important than speed.

Fitness Warrior

  • Goal: 5,000 points
  • Earn points through approved fitness exercises including push-ups, sit-ups, squats, burpees, planks, runs, and walks.
  • Suitable for beginners, parents, coaches, schools, and general fitness enthusiasts.

Forms Warrior

  • Goal: 5,000 points
  • Perform recognised forms or patterns, including Taekwondo patterns, Karate kata, Kung Fu forms, and other recognised martial arts forms.
  • Quality is encouraged over speed.

Combo Warrior

  • Goal: 5,000 points
  • Use the full official points system across martial arts techniques, forms, fitness, distance, and sparring rounds.
  • Ideal for participants who want a balanced all-round challenge.

Rules & Conduct

Eligibility

  • Open to all martial arts styles, ages, belt ranks, fitness levels, individuals, families, schools, clubs, South African participants, and international participants.
  • Participants under 18 should have parental or guardian consent.

Challenge Period

  • The official challenge runs from 14 September 2026 to 27 September 2026.
  • Only activities completed during the official challenge period may be submitted.

Daily Submissions

  • Participants should submit progress daily through the online portal.
  • Each submission includes the date, activities completed, total points earned, and optional training photo or video proof.
  • Late submissions may not be accepted.

Verification

  • The Warrior Challenge is based on honesty, integrity, and sportsmanship.
  • Random verification checks may be carried out.
  • Participants may be asked for short training videos, coach verification, parent confirmation, or witness confirmation.
  • False submissions may result in point deductions, disqualification, or removal from leaderboards.

Fair Play

  • Count only correctly completed repetitions.
  • Maintain safe technique.
  • Respect fellow competitors.
  • Display good sportsmanship.
  • Unsportsmanlike behaviour will not be tolerated.

Safety

  • Warm up before training, cool down afterwards, train within your ability, wear appropriate clothing, train in a safe environment, and stay hydrated.
  • Participants train entirely at their own risk.
  • NMAA South Africa accepts no responsibility for injuries sustained during training.

Leaderboards

  • Leaderboards include overall individual, Kick Warrior, Fitness Warrior, Forms Warrior, Combo Warrior, school rankings, and country rankings.
  • Leaderboards will be updated regularly throughout the challenge.

Schools Competition

  • Schools earn points from all registered participants.
  • School rankings encourage teamwork and participation.
  • The school with the highest total approved points may receive special recognition.

Awards

  • Depending on the selected entry package, participants may receive a digital certificate, downloadable participant badge, Warrior Coin, printed certificate, event T-shirt, or challenge wristband.
  • Completion awards are issued only after verification.

Digital Rewards

  • Participants may unlock achievement badges, completion certificates, digital wallpapers, social media frames, and achievement graphics.

Sponsor Recognition

  • Businesses and individuals may sponsor participants, schools, teams, provinces, or the overall event.
  • Sponsors receive recognition according to their sponsorship level.

Photography & Media

  • Participants grant NMAA South Africa permission to use submitted photos and videos for social media, the website, promotional material, and future Warrior Challenge marketing.
  • Parents may request that children's images not be used publicly.

Code Of Conduct

  • Every participant agrees to train honestly, respect all competitors, encourage others, represent their school positively, and follow NMAA values.

General Rules

  • NMAA South Africa reserves the right to correct scoring errors, verify submissions, remove inappropriate content, modify rules where necessary, and make final decisions on disputes.
  • All decisions by the organisers are final.
